Experience Ragtime at Fulton Opera House

Ragtime BIO:

Ragtime is a sweeping Broadway musical based on E.L. Doctorow's 1975 historical novel of the same name. With music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Terrence McNally, the show depicts three parallel stories set in turn-of-the-20th-century New York: a wealthy white family from New Rochelle, a Black ragtime musician named Coalhouse Walker Jr., and a Jewish immigrant named Tateh. The production is celebrated for its rich orchestrations and powerful themes of race, class, and immigration.

This performance at the Fulton Opera House in Lancaster on October 18, 2026, is part of a larger tour that showcases the musical's enduring popularity. Audiences can expect to hear iconic songs such as "Wheels of a Dream," "Make Them Hear You," and "Goodbye, My Love." The show has received numerous accolades, including four Tony Awards in 1998 for Best Musical Score, Best Book, Best Orchestrations, and Best Scenic Design.

The live performance vibe is often described as electric, with standing ovations common for the powerful anthem "Make Them Hear You." This production features a large ensemble cast and elaborate period costumes that transport audiences back to early 20th-century America.
